Alpha Kappa Lambda started as a small house club at the University
of California at Berkely, known as Los Amigos in 1907. The eleven founding
members are represented in the crest by the eleven rays of sun setting across
San Francisco Bay. In 1914 Los Amigos disbanded to reform as a national
fraternity - Alpha Kappa Lambda. The motto of The Fraternity is "Alethia
Kai Logos," which in classical Greek means "The Truth and the Word."
Today there are over 30 active chapters across the country.
